Learning the real history of this nation made me a better person.

Because I know the truth, I’m much more understanding, patient and confident.

Because now I know that this country would not be as wonderful as it is if it weren’t for people like my g. g. grandfather who was a free Black man in 1850 (Yup, that was the year of the Fugitive Slave Act, when they were snatching up Blacks folks and tossing them into slavery.). And he served in the Civil War!

And his son, my g. grandfather helped build the state capitol in Columbia, South Carolina!

Shoot, my people literally helped build this country!

So I write about them.

I write stories about Black folks who use their wit and grit to build amazing lives for themselves and their communities

and somehow manage to make something out of nothing.

I am a screenwriter.

I have written, self-funded, directed and edited four scripted podcasts/audio dramas. My first series, Harlem Queen is highly acclaimed and listened to all over the world.

I am a Bundles Scholar at Columbia University, selected for an AIR Media New Voice, and a Tribeca Festival alum. I am a ten time LMCC/NYSCA grantee.

Yup, I’m pretty dope.

Thank you for visiting my page!
